Apply for teacher training with UCAS

NWKTSA have a large number of school direct training places, available on UCAS. All courses are validated by Kent and Medway Training.

Schools Direct Training Route

You will undertake teaching placements in at least two different schools. A successful application through our course code, would mean that the main placement would be at any of our  school partners in the North West Kent Teaching School Alliance. During each placement you will be supported by a subject specialist who has been trained to act as your mentor, as well as a senior member of staff who oversees the placement.

Within the School Direct routes, we offer Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) but can also provide trainees with the opportunity to gain a Top Up Level 7 PGCE qualification, delivered at KMT (Kent and Medway Training) and online by the University of Brighton.

Entry Requirements

The required qualifications for entry onto ITT courses are:

  • ‘O’ Level/GCSE A*-C/Grade 4 pass  in English and Mathematics;
  • Primary trainees will also need to have achieved at least a grade C/4 in Science;
  • A degree classification of 2:2 or better;
  • You will also need to undertake at least 10 days of experience in a related work place.

Please note that in relation to applications from non-EU citizens…

We are not in a position to accept PGCE or School Direct Training applications from non-EU citizens i.e. those who do not meet the residency requirements to receive public funding.

We are not able to proceed with a registration for the School Direct Salaried Programme from those not currently holding residency status in the UK unless that registration is completed in conjunction with one of our consortium schools.
